APA vs MLA Writing
The different writing formats are use in papers, reports and academic essays and to give support and make the research work more creative whether the writer says I write my essay for me or for a research work these formats contrast several writing styles with each other. The writing format is divided into three main categories: Documentary note style, parenthesis style (author-date style) and numbered style.Numbers of writing styles are there to use like MLA, APA, Harvard, Chicago, AGLC etc. All have their own unique features, when you study in a particular field you need to follow its own designed style. Below, there is a comparison between MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association) styles:
Both MLA and APA have 12 sized font, double spaced lines and 1 inch margin on all sides. APA is comprises of title page, abstract, main body and references where an MLA has only body part of the paper and referencing. MLA is used for study and teaching of language and literature and APA is use in the work of social and behavioral sciences.
Good vocabulary can actually help you in expressing yourself, your ideas and your arguments. Do not just copy past the word from dictionaries; learn how to use the word.
Research the topic
The differences between the two styles become even more apparent when it is for in- text citation. MLA Style includes the author’s last name and the page number, whether citing a direct quotation or not. However, APA Style text citations also include the publication date, because the timeliness of research is important in science writing, and the page number is required only for direct quotations.
In APA style there is references at the end of the paper whereas in MLA there is a list of work cited. Both start with the last name of the author which is alphabetized. The references are numbered. MLA style helps people in easier organization of content whereas APA style focuses on presenting important scientific literature in a professional way.
Tables and graphs:
While writing in MLA format the focus should be on the body paragraph of the paper if I write my essay for me or for the readers too but in APA tables and graphs are used to elaborate the research work that helps to support the content.
An MLA styling format is commonly known as name-and-work style and APA styling format is known as name-and-date style. Both include footnotes that are called discursive footnotes which add information about the source use in paper.
Order of Entries in Bibliographic List:
The order of entries using the MLA format is alphabetical by author, then alphabetical by title. The APA style requires all references listed alphabetically by author, then chronologically by work. The MLA style has all article titles referenced in quotation marks with all major words capitalized. In contrast, the APA format does not contain article titles in quotation marks only capitalizes the first word.
